Chinese investment drives Uganda’s industrial transformation

Uganda’s industrial landscape is undergoing a transformation—powered in part by Chinese investment. From steel to textiles, Chinese-backed factories are reshaping local production, creating jobs, and contributing significantly to Uganda’s GDP. So far, more than three industrial parks are run by the Chinese. The impact of these factories is being felt in a shift in the country’s trade balance—more and more products are now manufactured or assembled locally. Ismail Musa Ladu reports.
