The National Unity Platform Elections Management Committee has stated that it will do its best to vet all its candidates— including those currently incarcerated— who have expressed interest in running for parliamentary seats. This comes after one of the candidates in the race for Nakawa East, Waiswa Mufumbiro, was arrested and remanded last week. Shamim Malende and Zahra Luyirika, who are now vying for the party’s flag for Kampala Woman MP, were vetted today and each pledged to earn the party’s trust.
