Takenote: Birth registration and services access
Robert John Offiti, Regional Manager of Health Promotion and Social Development, joins us to discuss the challenges surrounding birth registration and the ongoing efforts to ensure that every Ugandan is legally recognized. With the government aiming for 100% birth registration, we examine the barriers contributing to the current 32% registration rate for children under five and the role of organizations like HEPS-Uganda in supporting national identification efforts. We’ll also explore the importance of civil registration for planning, health services, and legal recognition, as well as what needs to be done to improve the system.
