Plant to increase fish feed production opened
For decades now, the fisheries sector has been one of Uganda’s important exports, contributing up to 3 percent of GDP and earning the country up to$53m as of 2022. However, the high cost of feed imports are hurting efforts by farmers to increase yields and add value. NTV understands, a new factory in Jinja has its doors open and is expected to process cheap or affordable feed. This is with support from the Dutch and Uganda governments, who have since penned a EUR 20 million partnership to this end.
