Media Freedom Montage :Tribute to the various journalists in the Kawempe North by election
We would like to pay tribute to the various journalists who have suffered in one way or another as they covered this electoral campaign. Their resilience and commitment to work is a true reflection of their patriotism and determination to stay with the true ethics of the profession. We express our gratitude to them for their passion on the job. While the media remains resilient in the face of the challenges they face - the violence expressed by the security forces during this campaign IS unacceptable and raises uncomfortable questions about their patriotism to our country.
That the army and police remain silent as these crimes are reported regularly, only offering apologies, without real commitment to call those involved to account, is a shameful reflection of the extent to which the rule of law has fallen in this country. And so we leave you with the views of those who suffered through it all, and assure you our commitment to journalism.
