Bishop Muhiirwa campaigns against premarital sex
Fort Portal Diocese Bishop Robert Muhiirwa has launched a campaign in schools to sensitize the youth about abstaining from premarital sex to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS. Bishop Muhiirwa, who was the main celebrant at St. Maria Goretti Girls Secondary School in Fort Portal, called on the youth to abstain from sex and avoid engaging in immoral activities for money. According to the 2022 HIV/AIDS report by the Uganda AIDS Commission, Fort Portal was leading in HIV/AIDS prevalence with a rate of 17.8%, compared to the national average of 5.1%.
