Christians mark start of Lent with Ash Wednesday Mass
Christians have today begun the 40-day Lenten period, which involves prayers and fasting. Hundreds are attending Ash Wednesday Mass and services in various churches, with calls for repentance, prayer, and humanity towards one another. At Christ the King Catholic Parish, the early morning Mass services were led by Parish Priest Monsignor Gerald Kalumba, who urged the faithful to act with compassion, especially during this political season. Other Christians expressed their readiness to use this period to pray for the quick recovery of the hospitalized Pope Francis and to promote love for all.
