Tourism industry excited as government unveils Kikorongo equator monument
The Ministry of Tourism is planning to introduce a fee for those who frequently visit the newly refurbished Equator monument in Kikorongo, Kasese. This decision comes in response to the growing number of visitors who stop by to take pictures or selfies at the recently unveiled monument. Located close to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the monument has become a major attraction. Jackline Besigye, the acting commissioner of museums and monuments, notes that in less than two weeks, 3,400 people have visited and taken pictures at the monument.
