Uganda implements asset recovery for corruption convicts
The Ministry of Ethics and Integrity is joining other anti-corruption agencies in Uganda in implementing an asset recovery policy. It is intended for those convicted of corruption, with the money given to the government to fund other developmental services. According to the Minister of State for Ethics and Integrity, Rose Lilly Akello, many people have been convicted of corruption, but this has not yielded much in the fight against the vice. The call came during a meeting to review Uganda’s implementation and obligations under the UN Convention against Corruption in Kampala.
