Uganda Land Commission urges utilization of land for economic growth
The Uganda Land Commission says there is an urgent need for the government to scale up the utilization of commercial and agricultural land across the country. They argue that this will spur economic growth and rapid development. Prof. Nyeko Pen-mogi, the Chairperson of the Commission, is singling out the northern region of Uganda, where he says ownership ought to be strengthened through the certification of predominantly communal land. This was discussed during a consultative meeting on customary land ownership and certification convened by the Ministry of Lands in Gulu City.
