The ultrasound scan at Masafu Hospital has broken down, worsening the plight of patients trying to access medical services at Busia’s biggest health facility, which has operated without an X-ray for the last 10 years. Without an X-ray for nearly 10 years and now with the ultrasound scan broken down, doctors are finding it hard to carry out diagnoses for the many patients who flock to the hospital. Many patients are now being referred to Kenya for investigations, which is increasing the cost of accessing health services.
