Opposition demands probe into security officers’ support for Museveni

As campaigns intensify, tensions continue to rise in Uganda’s 2026 election race. Today in Parliament, the Leader of the Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi, urged the government to investigate uniformed security officers who have openly supported the National Resistance Movement’s presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, stating that their actions violate laws prohibiting partisan involvement. The government responded by promising to look into the allegations and take appropriate action if the officers are found guilty.
