KICKSTARTER: Assessing Kampala's Air Quality
Air Quality Awareness Week 2023 is May 1 - May 5. This timeframe corresponds with the beginning of ozone season, wildfire season, Asthma Awareness Month, and World Asthma Day. This creates a great opportunity to engage your community in air quality awareness activities. The theme this year is, "Working Together for Clean Air". Air Quality Awareness Week highlights resources that increase air quality awareness and encourage people to take action and incorporate air quality knowledge into their daily living. Everyone deserves to breathe clean air and look forward to a sustainable future that responds to the challenges presented by climate change, Prof. Engineer Bainomugisha, from Makerere University who develops low-cost sensors to monitor air pollution around over 120 towns in Uganda and Dr. Daniel Okello Director of Public Health and Environment at KCCA shall talk about the health effects of air pollution in Kampala and what we can all do to clean air.
