Besigye hunger strike: medics explain difficulty of staying away from food
It emerges that the state is planning to connect veteran opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye’s case with that of the 36 Ugandan opposition supporters arrested in Kisumu, Kenya, in 2024. The prosecution team made the revelation in court, objecting to a request for Dr. Besigye to be evacuated to seek specialized medical attention outside the prison. Dr. Besigye and his co-accused, Obeid Lutale and Captain Denis Oola, were further remanded to Luzira Prison until 7th March by the Nakawa Chief Magistrate Court, after their trial formally started in the civilian court.
