New welder certification to boost construction quality in Uganda
A new welders' construction standard expected to define specific profiles for different welders in line with global best practices is in the offing. Welders will be required to obtain an internationally recognized professional license, according to the Welders Society of Uganda. This is expected to improve the quality of high-rise buildings that have been collapsing due to poor workmanship, substandard building materials, and shortcuts during construction.
