Army establishes buffer zones in Apaa ahead of border demarcation
The army has created buffer zones between the Acholi and Madi communities in Apaa to register inhabitants ahead of the planned border demarcation. This action by Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) officials comes against the backdrop of violent conflicts in the area and extensive tree felling for commercial purposes. It also aims to pacify the area in preparation for the Ministry of Lands' planned border demarcation, intended to prevent violence and restore lasting peace among the host communities.
