Besigye and Lutale taken back to Luzira after court hearing
Dr. Kizza Besigye and Obed Lutale have been taken back to Luzira Prison. The two were brought to court following a recent petition by their lawyers asking the prosecution to show cause as to why the state is keeping them in detention, even after the Supreme Court ruled that military courts have no power to try civilians. Justice Douglas Singiza, who presided over the brief hearing, said he could not preside over the court when a sick person is present. In the same court, Human Rights Lawyer Eron Kiiza, who was recently sentenced to nine months in prison by the Military Court Martial, has also been brought to court. Daniel Kibet has been at court since morning and has the details.
