Ugandan manufacturers urge UEDCL to address power outages ahead of UMEME’s exit
Manufacturers in Uganda are calling on the incoming power distributor, Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, to urgently address persistent power outages that are severely impacting their operations. This comes as UEDCL prepares to take over from Umeme, whose concession ends in March 2025. While manufacturers currently have the option to purchase electricity directly from generators, this process is on hold until the electricity regulator sets the approved rates.
