Yumbe schools cut down fuel consumption by 50% with EU, Save the Children support
Schools in Yumbe District have made attempts to cut down their fuel consumption by up to fifty percent with the intervention of Save the Children, supported by the European Union. One of these schools, Barakala Seed Secondary School, used to spend 15-20% of its budget on fuel to cook meals for the students. The headteacher, Hamid Amin, says they used traditional, inefficient cookstoves that cost them UGX 2.1 million per term.
