NRM caucus resolves to back UPDF deployment in South Sudan
The NRM Parliamentary Caucus has resolved to support the deployment of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces in South Sudan as a peace intervention. While addressing the media at Parliament, the Government Chief Whip, Hamson Obua, clarified that the deployment is aimed at peace enforcement and not just peacekeeping. The Minister emphasized that, under the constitution, Parliament has the mandate to make laws to regulate the deployment of the UPDF, including outside Uganda.
