Besigye's Lawyer seeks kidnap charges in court martial
One of the lawyers representing Dr. Kizza Besigye has written to the police leadership, seeking criminal charges against members and officers of the Makindye General Court Martial who allegedly abducted and violated his client's rights. Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale were picked up in Nairobi and arraigned before the Court Martial on charges of terrorism and possession of ammunition. In a statement, lawyer Kiiza requests that the force prefer criminal charges against the Judge Advocate Brigadier Richard Tukacungurwa and Prosecutor Colonel Raphael Mugisha for contempt of court, abduction, and wrongful confinement. There has been no response from the Inspector General of Police, to whom Eron Kiiza’s letter is addressed, or the Director of Public Prosecutions, who was copied in. So far, Eron Kiiza has had run-ins with both Brigadier Tukacungurwa and Colonel Mugisha since the trial of Dr. Besigye began in Makindye
