Transport experts advocate for railway system to ease Kampala congestion
As Kampala struggles to decongest, with the largest contribution coming from commuter taxi vehicles and boda bodas, transport experts have pointed to the future as embracing the railway transport system for both goods and passengers because it is cheaper and more efficient. Uganda still lags behind its peers, Kenya and Tanzania, who have upgraded to the standard gauge. Benon Kajuna, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Uganda Railways Corporation, explains the challenges and vision for the sector.
